Here in Melbourne, Australia we have been getting some pretty hot weather, 36 C today. Poor Adelaide are expecting 43C, but they have been having a really bad heat wave for over a week now and it’s not even Summer yet.

I make my dogs ice bricks. I collect either ice cream or margarine/butter containers and freeze water in them and when they are half frozen I push raw beef mince and fruit and vegetables into it. So when the dogs are chewing and licking the ice bricks they get to the tasty bits inside for an extra treat.

In the beginning of the year when we had many days in a row over 40C and then the bad fires, I had 10 extra dogs at my house cause friends worked and didn’t want their dogs out in the heat. So my air conditioner was running in overtime and the dogs were all happy and cool. We also have 3 toddler pools, so I filled them up and let the dogs swim in them under the veranda.
