If you live in a hot country, or even one that merely has hot summers, it is just lovely to be able to sit in your home without sweltering. In particular at night as being too hot can prevent you from getting a decent night’s rest.

Voting Question: It gets unbearably hot in my room during the summer months, can you possibly help?

by admin on Feb.26, 2010, under Air Conditioner

My room is located in the front of our East facing home, and during the summer months my room is practically unbearable to be in. I have 5 small windows that span across an entire wall. A small fan fits inside the window, but they don’t make air conditioners small enough for these windows. I currently don’t have curtains because the previous set was floor length, that bothered me a lot so I took them down. I bought fabric, padding and an outer fabric so I could custom make “thicker” and fitting curtains to sit further inside the window because my windows are quite drafty during the colder months. When the warmer weather comes, I open up all of my windows for air flow but that hardly helps the baking feeling I get whenever in my room.

My question is… Is there a way to make my room degrees cooler, even with the sun pointing directly at my room for the majority of the hottest time of day? I was going to try custom fitting those sun reflectors like you see in the windshield of cars. Would that work, or does anyone have a better idea?
